As always, the plan to go Jog falls did not work out and finally ended up in Rafting on 27th Aug 2011. We were four of us me, Vishwanath, Vishwas and Manish drove to Bheemeshwari in Santro.
Bheemeshwari camp is about 100km from Bangalore. At kanakapura there is a diversion one heading to sangama mekedatu and other NH209 (towards Bheemeshwari rafting). We were nearly lost and it was already 11.30am, when we met a person near sathanur (place after kanakapura) and he told about Galibore fishing camp near samgama. We decided to have our breakfast near sathanur as it was already late.
Now before entering sangam there is a muddy way towards right, travelling 9 km ahead we reached Galibore fishing camp. The road is bumpy with stones all the way, but its pleasant driving beside the river bed with nature being pleasant. Reaching there we were told to have lunch and relaxed for a while. At around 3 we were all filling up some form and finally left for rafting.
The camp is the ending point of rafting, it starts 6km ahead of the camp, take us there by jeep. We were given life jacket, helmet and rafting paddle. They explained how to use the rafting paddle and told to follow the commands of the guide. We started with slow downstream water, and it gradually increased, it was very bumpy at certain places. They also allowed us to get into water where the water was little stagnant. We reached our camp back at 5.30 and had hot coffee.
The total expenditure at the camp was Rs.1550 including food (Rs.1250 for rafting and Rs.300 food). It was first time we were rafting and enjoyed a lot. If u guys stay in Bangalore then this could be most enjoyable trip for a weekend, its only during the monsoon ( July-oct . Rafting for first time go for it…!!!
